Inspiration to Guthrie

Guthrie, a fellow Oklahoman undoubtedly heard stories about the 'Robin Hood of the Cookson Hills'. His song perpetuates the myth of Floyd as a righteous gangster. The legacy of "Pretty Boy" Floyd is due in large part to Guthrie's catchy diddy. The song has been covered by other famous folksters Bob Dylan and Joan Baez, among others.
