A Jukebox Image: 1930-1934

Here is a jukebox image of popular songs from nineteen thirty to nineteen thirty-four, the exhibit will showcase some of the songs featured on this list. The two songs showcased are Fred Astaire's "Puttin on the Ritz," and The Carter Sister's "Worried Man Blues." These songs show best the dichotomy between the upper and working classes of the 1930's. They each express different culteral airs where Puttin on The Ritz expresses the glamour of the luxorious life, Worried Man's Blues as an antithesis to the ritz expresses the air of the working class. These songs find a commanility within their common goals as music to entertain the masses. The masses aspire for luxury and glamour within "Puttin On The Ritz," and they are faced with the reality of their situation within "Worried Man Blues."
